
Uncorrelated maps will look like a map where the values are random. A highly correlated map will look like a map where the x-values and v-values are identical, resulting in a coefficient of deterimination (r2) of 1. In this case the brightness for each state will vary but the hues will all be those of the x-value (i.e. a range of white to lighter reds to darker reds.)
